How to Equip Your Tennis Bag PDF  | Print |  E-mail
As the saying goes, winning is all about advantage.  Having an advantage over the other player always allows you to go where the others can't.  And being on the advantage means being prepared and open to whatever may occur during the match.  A well-equipped tennis bag would prepare you for any situation that may arise on the day of the match or even at practice.

First, you should invest on a good tennis bag.  Look specifically for a tennis bag, which looks like a rectangular duffel bag that would allow you to pack your rackets and other equipment without the racket poking out. Second, know how to stock your tennis bag. Here are some steps to do it right:

Step 1.   Your tennis bag should have at least one spare well-strung tennis racket.  Most players carry their rackets in a bag to protect it from sun, heat, and so on, and it's always a good idea to have an extra racket in case a string breaks.

Step 2.   Your tennis bag should contain one new can of tennis balls. You'd never know when you might need them.

Step 3.
Your tennis bag should have a kit of first-aid supplies, such as bandages, dry-ice bag, and aspirin.  You may need this in case you may feel ill or sustain an injury, so you can just reach in your bag for first aid an be done with it.

Step 4.   You should have extra t-shirts and towels in your tennis bag.  You can't have enough dry towels during a match, to wipe off sweat from your arms, legs, and hands. The same goes for having a dry shirt to change into if your shirt gets too soaked with sweat.

Step 5.   Keep a water bottle, energy drink, sunglasses and sunscreen in your tennis bag.  Always bring extra water and energy drinks because your body needs to stay hydrated to work competently during a tennis match. A pair of sunglasses is a great way to see the ball easier on a bright day and it protects your eyes from the harmful UV rays, same as the sunscreen which you need to protect your skin from the sun for long hours of exposure.

Step 6.
Throw in extra wristbands and a hat or headgear.  A hat during a tennis match does a lot of things for you; the band helps keep sweat out of your eyes, the bill protects your eyes from the overhead sun and the cap keeps your head cool. Much like with your wristband, this is one of the best ways to keep sweat out of your face, and having a fresh one to change to is good.

Step 7.   Consider including a pack of vitamins and some healthy snacks.  Keeping snacks available for you when you need them is always an advantage, especially if your start time is delayed or you split sets in a long match. The extra energy you need on the court can come from the snacks you bring.

The tennis bag is not just something to make a fashion statement, because it plays an important role in you winning a match too. The more prepared and equipped you are with what's inside your tennis bag the more you remain one step ahead of the others.
